Break Down ( stop functioning properly ... )
"break down"

When something stops working it breaks down. Example: "Did your car break down again?" Reply: "Yeah."

To break down can also mean to get upset and start crying. Example: "I've been so sad about the dog dying, I broke down right in the middle of a meeting today."
