"A Piercing Scream"

A piercing scream is the sound made when a person yells very loud and high-pitched.

Example: "I was walking down Broad Street when suddenly I heard this piercing scream."

The sound of a high-pitched scream comes from the throat and usually happens when a person has seen something terrifying.

A high-pitched scream is a terrifying scream let out when something terrifying is seen.
