"Carrying It A Bit Too Far"

"Carrying it a bit too far" is doing too much of some thing and not stopping when you should stop.

Example: "It is okay to make jokes during class, but you are carrying it a bit too far."

Doing it a little bit may be okay, but you are doing it too much when you "carry it too far".

Example: "April Fool's jokes are fun, but putting salt in my coffee was carrying it a bit too far."

Example: "I know you kids were just trying to have fun, but you carried it a bit too far."
