Explain Oneself ( one is asked to explain why one did or said something unusual ... )
"explain oneself"



Explaining oneself is telling another person ("explaining") the reasons for what one did. Example: "Please listen. I am trying to explain myself."

Angry parents often demand that children explain why they have done things wrong by saying "explain yourself." Example: "It is after midnight and you are still not home. Explain yourself!"
