Extend Your Sympathy To Them ( say that you are sad because of their pain or loss ... )
"extend your sympathy to them"



Extending your sympathy is telling others that you are sad because of the loss they suffered. Example: "Jane lost her mother this week. We must remember to exend our sympathy to her."

"Sympathy" is feeling sad or sorry when people you love feel pain or loss: "Extending your sympathy" is telling or showing them how bad you feel about their pain. Example: "I would like to extend my sympathy for the recent death of your mother." Reply: "I appreciate that very much." Another example: "We would like to extend our sympathy for the loss of your cat."

"Extending your sympathy" is a polite way to acknowledge in words that another person has lost someone important. Example: "Let's extend our sympathy with a gift of flowers." Another example: "I want to extend my sympathy to you for the loss of your mother." Reply: "Thank you so much for your support."
