On Your Toes ( ready, prepared, alert ... )
"on your toes"

"On your toes" means prepared for whatever could happen. Example: "In ice hockey you have to be agressive and stay on your toes."

Because "on your toes" means ready for action, it often follows the words "stay", "keep" and "be." Example: "Keep on your toes. The enemy could be anywhere."

"On your toes", you are ready to jump in and act quickly.
